Question for LS612

The push exists in schools to use technology to increase student learning opportunities. As an administrator, what parameters will you use to evaluate meaningful educational technology implementation in the classroom? Please share three components that will reside on your list.

  1. Any technology in the class should be relevant to the content, lesson and classroom and contain real-world learning experiences.

  2. I think in using technology to increase student learning, we must first evaluate if the technology is engaging the students. If a student finds a technology component boring and can find no value in using the technology, are we actually increasing student learning? Second, I think we need to evaluate if the technology is easy for a student to use. As a low incidence special education teacher, I must not only consider the cognitive abilities of my students but also the fine motor deficits that many of my students must overcome. The third aspect in evaluating technology is does the technology component actually increase a students knowledge. Is the student gaining knowledge or information that could not otherwise be attained if not for the use of the technology?
